Wait and See Presents Design Week 2O22Wait and See Presents Design Week 2O22

For the 60th Edition of the Design Week, the Concept Store WAIT and SEE presents ‘ENTROPY and DESIRE ’: the work by furniture designer Grace Prince, and ‘STREAKS ’: the work by interior designer Max Guadagno.

In the Wait and See Gallery, next door to the store, in via Santa Marta 14, Grace Prince will exhibit her first solo show that will feature an accompanying text by curator Federica Sala. The pieces are from the ‘Static Fragility’ and ‘Unsettled Balance’ collections as well as a vase created specifically for this event. Her practice addresses authenticity, gesture and entropy, themes illustrated in the title of each collection and brought into functional works via a specific method. This method works to contrive light juxtapositions of material and form via a slow sensory process with the perceptive outcome of speed and chance, such as a haiku in 3D, dedicated to the expression of much within the fewest possible compositional attempts. The result is a suspension of actions, of gestures, harnessed together through a satisfying tension in form.

Grace Prince, born in London, is a furniture designer and architectural researcher based between Milan and Zürich. After graduating from Central Saint Martins, London in 2015 Prince gained experience in carpentry, marble carving and editorial set design. In 2017 she became the assistant designer to Vincenzo de Cotiis in Milan, working closely with a range of artisans across Italy. Since 2020 Prince has been designing and constructing works under her own name at her studio in Milan. Alongside her practice, she is a material researcher at the chair of Prof. Anne Holtrop at the ETH University, Zürich. Her practice addresses authenticity, entropy and gesture, themes brought into functional works via a specific method she titles Gestural Assembly.

The space adjacent the store, the Wait and See Space, always in via Santa Marta 14, will be transformed by Max Guadagno into a lounge area, the furnishings of which will be site specific. A collection, named ‘Streaks’, of striped tables and seats in wood and coloured resins will be the focal point of his presentation.
With Guadagno, the classics of the Orient blend with the most innovative design and workmanship. Thanks to his profound know-how, and direct collaboration with Moroccan craftsmen of incomparable mastery in the most diverse fields, he creates unique and eclectic collections.

We are pleased to invite you to the WAIT AND SEE Gallery and Space in Via Santa Marta 14

OPENING HOURS:

EVENT:
June 8th 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Max Guadagno, Italian Interior Designer and Perfume Creator, has made a name for himself through his rediscovery of cultures and aesthetics that are distant in space and time, but highly contemporary.
An eclectic path has led him to create different realities in interior design and ambient perfumes.
He has lived for more than a decade between Marrakech and Milan, and he continues to collaborate and create bespoke projects with architects, hotels and private individuals all over the world. He works closely with a team of skilled craftsmen and experimental workshops to create his pieces.
